Hearthline is a typeface I designed from the ground up, rooted in Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco. Part of what drove the project was noticing that most fonts in this space don’t have real lowercase letters, just shrunken versions of the uppercase. So I designed one that did.

Process
This was an incredibly iterative process, with lots of analysis each week on the tiny details. Each iteration there was always something to fix, whether it be spacing on certain letters, the way the letterform looked, or even bumping up the size of the title by 5%.
